Gulf States Report Missile and Drone Attacks Hours After Ceasefire Announcement
The UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar reported incoming Iranian missile and drone attacks within hours of the ceasefire announcement. The UAE intercepted 17 ballistic missiles and 35 UAVs. Kuwait reported "severe material damage" to oil installations and power stations, with drones striking Kuwait Petroleum Corporation facilities. Bahrain reported two injuries from drone interception shrapnel. The attacks raised immediate questions about whether Tehran's regional operations against Gulf states hosting US military bases are covered by the ceasefire terms.
The scope of the attacks, 17 ballistic missiles and 35 UAVs intercepted by the UAE alone, suggests IRGC field commanders either did not receive stand-down orders in time or are operating semi-autonomously from the political leadership that signed the ceasefire. Kuwait's report of "severe material damage" to petroleum infrastructure raises the question of whether Gulf states will demand separate security guarantees beyond the US-Iran bilateral framework.
